INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

COMPREHENSIVE GUIDANCE: GRADES 11 & 12

Comprehensive guidance gives a student and their family support through the entire process with a goal toward stress reduction, student personal growth and the best outcome.

  • Up to 20 meetings: Meetings in person or by internet platform. Unlimited phone calls and e-mails.

  • Support for the completion of 8 applications. (Additional applications possible at additional cost).

  • Student use of their own account on CollegePlannerPro to organize tasks, research, calendars, communication and more.

PREPARE: EXPLORE, INSPIRE AND PLAN

  • 8+ tasks including:

  • In depth interview of student and family in order to develop overall strategy of the application process. Clarify the role and expectations of student, parents and consultant in the college application process.

  • Review and evaluate high school transcript, interests and extracurricular activities.  Support and encourage opportunities for growth and improvement. 

  • “Meet the Application” and create student CV. Discuss resume development.

  • Assessments, career  and college majors exploration as needed.

  • Overall calendar created to balance tasks and stress.


RESEARCH: ASSESSMENT, THE COLLEGE LIST AND PREPARE SOME MORE

  • 8+ tasks including:

  • Collaboratively develop college choice criteria and a list of 10-12 target colleges

  • Introduce college search and share research tools to refine the list.

  • Review: transcript/test scores and extracurricular activities. Provide feedback.


DRAFT: APPLICATION GETS UNDERWAY

  • 4+ tasks including: 

  • Draft and feedback on Common Application Personal Essay and UC Essays

  • Draft and input application general information.


REFINEMENT: APPLICATION REFINEMENT

  • 5+ tasks including:

  • Finalize college list ideally at 8 schools. 

  • Refine application calendar and timeline.

  • Brainstorm applications supplemental questions.


SUBMIT:  APPLICATION COMPLETION

  • 5+ tasks including:

  • .Finalize essays, supplemental questions and activities list. 

  • Submission review for 8 applications.

An athlete who would like to be recruited for a college sports team must be of an appropriate athletic caliber and very dedicated to their sport throughout high school.  They will need to complete all the admission tasks outlined in the Comprehensive Package as well as undertake the campaign and courtship of the recruiting process.  Recruitment can be for a scholarship but also without a scholarship. College athletic recruitment adds considerable requirements to the regular college admission process. 

 

The Student-Athlete Package adds the following guidance detailed in the tasks below.  The expectations, advice and work of a student-athlete are significantly greater than that of a regular college applicant.

 

A PARTIAL LIST OF TASKS: PLEASE EMAIL FOR A COMPLIMENTARY 30 MINUTE CONSULTATION AND LEARN THE FULL SCOPE OF SERVICES 

 

GENERAL:

  • At least five additional in depth meetings in person or by internet platform.

 

PREPARE: EXPLORE, INSPIRE AND PLAN:

  • 8+ additional tasks for the athlete including:

  • Initial assessment of athletic accomplishments and potential 

  • Discussion of the unique college experience of the college athlete.  Challenges and advantages. 

  • Development of a personal timeline. 

 

RESEARCH: ASSESSMENT, THE COLLEGE LIST AND PREPARE SOME MORE

  • 9+ additional tasks for the athlete including:

  • Introduction and discussion of the range of college programs. 

  • Research and know your program options while considering GPA and testing as well as athletics.

  • Collaboratively create the athlete’s college list which includes the range of performance levels and which must be suitable if an athlete discontinues their sport. 10-12 schools. 

 

CAMPAIGN:  INTRODUCE YOURSELF TO COLLEGE PROGRAMS:

  • 7+ additional tasks for the athlete including:

  • Guidelines for completing the on line recruiting form and coach e mail.

  • Coaching and role playing for college coach conversations and interviews.

  • Guidelines and personal review and interpretation of communication with college coaches.

 

COURTSHIP: REFINING YOUR LIST, CONVINCE THE COACH AND DRAFT YOUR APPLICATION

  • 4+ additional tasks for the athlete including:

  • Refine your list to your top five schools. (usual recruiting trip limit)

  • Application drafted and/or completed and submitted as required.

  • The Recruiting Trip:  Guidelines and discussion for invitation.

 

DECISION AND SUBMISSION:  RECRUITED ATHLETES MUST COMPLETE AN OUTSTANDING APPLICATION 

  • 5+ additional tasks for the athlete including:

  • Decide upon program and complete application as required.  

  • The “Likely Letter” and “NLI Letter Guidelines for invitation, decision and acceptance.

DIANA CAN CREATE AND PRESENT COLLEGE ADMISSIONS, ESSAY, AND COLLEGE RECRUITING WORKSHOPS TO A VARIETY OF COMMUNITIES  INCLUDING SCHOOLS, MENTORING ORGANIZATIONS, SCOUTS, YOUTH ORGANIZATIONS,  AND SPORTS TEAMS.

9TH AND 10TH GRADE CONSULTATIONS

STUDENTS IN 9TH AND 10TH GRADE WILL GREATLY BENEFIT FROM GENERAL COACHING TO UNDERSTAND EXPECTATIONS AND PLAN AHEAD FOR COLLEGE ADMISSION. 

DIANA OFFERS A ONE ON ONE  WORKSHOP  FOR YEARS 8, 9 & 10 WHOSE FEE CAN BE PARTIALLY APPLIED TO THE COMPREHENSIVE PACKAGE. 


THE BASIC WORKSHOP INCLUDES TWO 90 MINUTE SESSIONS WHERE WE WILL  REVIEW ACADEMICS, EXTRACURRICULARS, CLASS SCHEDULES & TESTING WITH A GOAL OF PROVIDING MOTIVATION AND INSPIRATION TO REALIZE A STUDENTS POTENTIAL.  THIS REVIEW IS FOLLOWED BY AN INTRODUCTION TO THE COLLEGE ADMISSION PROCESS. ATHLETES WILL BE INTRODUCED TO THE COLLEGE RECRUITING PROCESS. 


 ADDITIONAL SESSIONS CAN BE ADDED TO DEVELOP  DETAILED PERSONAL PLANS, CALENDARS AND GOALS FOR THE HIGH SCHOOL YEARS.  GREATEST SUCCESS IS ACHIEVED WHEN PLANS AND PROGRESS ARE REVIEWED ON A REGULAR BASIS.

MOST OF DIANA'S ADVISING WORK IS COMPLETED THROUGH THE COMPREHENSIVE PROGRAMS OR WORKSHOPS.


HOWEVER, THERE ARE UNIQUE SITUATIONS WHEN HOURLY ADVICE IS GIVEN PARTICULARLY IF A STUDENT WISHES TO SUBMIT MORE THAN 8 APPLICATIONS.
